How our training fits together

Two routes, one standard

Our courses follow two routes. Skin training is open to everyone. Injectables training is for registered healthcare professionals only. Many medics take both, building their skin knowledge first.

Skin training for complete beginners and career changers

You do not need a beauty background to train with us. Our VTCT Level 3 skin qualification starts with the science of skin and builds from there, so you finish with a recognised qualification and the confidence to work with clients safely.

It suits people moving from other careers, including healthcare, retail and office roles, who want a focused, professional route into skin rather than years of broad beauty study.

This route is right for you if you:

  • Have no previous beauty or aesthetics qualification
  • Want to become a facialist, skin therapist or skin specialist
  • Want a recognised, Ofqual-regulated qualification rather than a short certificate
  • Would like a foundation for advanced treatments later on

02 · Beauty therapists

Specialise in skin with a Level 3 qualification

If you already work in beauty, a Level 3 in skin is the natural next step. You will go deeper into skin anatomy, skin conditions, ageing and ingredients, and learn to consult and plan treatments with a clinical approach.

It gives you the foundation to move into advanced skin treatments such as microneedling, chemical peels and device-based treatments, and to offer clients results-led skin care.

03 · Healthcare professionals

Aesthetics training for doctors, nurses, dentists and other healthcare professionals

Your clinical background is the best possible starting point for aesthetics. Our doctor-led injectables courses build on it with hands-on practice on live models, complication management and the confidence to treat safely. If you want to understand skin as well as you understand anatomy, our Level 3 skin qualification is open to you too.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I train in skin without a beauty background?

Yes. Our VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Access to Skin Aesthetics is open to complete beginners. It starts with skin anatomy and physiology and builds up to consultation and safe facial treatments, so no previous beauty qualification is needed.

Do I need a Level 3 qualification to work in skin?

A Level 3 qualification is the recognised foundation for professional skin work and for progressing to advanced treatments such as microneedling and chemical peels. Check your insurer’s requirements for the treatments you plan to offer.

Can nurses train in skin as well as injectables?

Yes. Nurses and other healthcare professionals can join our injectables courses and our VTCT Level 3 skin qualification. Many medics take the skin qualification first, so they understand the skin as well as the anatomy beneath it.

Can beauty therapists train in injectables with you?

Our injectables courses are only open to registered healthcare professionals. Beauty therapists can build a specialist skin career with us, starting with the VTCT Level 3 and progressing into advanced skin treatments.

Is the VTCT Level 3 a recognised qualification?

Yes. The course leads to the VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies (610/2399/1), an Ofqual-regulated qualification. Aesthetischool is a VTCT-approved training centre.

Where does the training take place?

All courses run at our purpose-built training centre at The Weaving Shed, Holmes Mill, Clitheroe, with on-site parking. It is easy to reach from across Lancashire and Greater Manchester.
